Serves: 4
Cook time: 30 mins
Ingredients:
1 sachet Buttermilk Chicken Coating
1 sachet Southern Style Gravy Mix
1 sachet Smoky Southern Fries Seasoning
900g chicken wings, divided into drumettes and flats
1 egg, beaten
100g plain flour
Spray oil
500g frozen French fries
300ml boiling water
Preparation Method
- Pre-heat oven to 200°C, 400°F, Gas Mark 6.
In a bowl, coat chicken wings with egg. In a separate bowl, empty Buttermilk Chicken Coating and combine with flour. Roll the chicken pieces one at a time in the coating mix, then place onto an oiled non-stick oven tray. Spray chicken lightly all over with oil.
- Arrange fries onto a separate baking tray and bake both for 20-25 mins, or until chicken is cooked through and fries are crispy (turn oven up to 220°C for a further 5 mins after removing chicken if fries need crisping).
- Meanwhile, mix the Southern Style Gravy Mix with boiling water until smooth. Sprinkle half of the Smoky Southern Fries Seasoning over the cooked fries (or add to taste) and toss to coat. Serve the chicken, fries and gravy on a board and dig in!
Notes
- Alternatively prepare chicken as above, spray with oil and cook in an air fryer at 190°C for 12-15 minutes, until cooked through (adjust cooking times according to manufacturer recommendations).
